Introduced to silk painting some years ago I became an ardent fan. The beautiful vibrant colours together with the different shades of outliner or "Gutta" provide endless design opportunities. I use the outliner as an integral part of each design as I like the sculptured look and the glint of gold, silver etc, produced in the finished work.
The black outliner I use quite often with a series of "stained-glass" paintings. I find the black, together with the vibrancy of the paints, work well to produce this effect. The paintings have been well received when I have exhibited and are popular amongst commissioned work.
New series of paintings are always being worked on and will be included on the site when completed. Please feel free to contact me for further details.
When I first started to paint I chose watercolour as I love its free flowing properties. It's ability to merge wet into wet, creating it's own shapes, forms and colour variations, allowing me to work with it to create a finished image.
Colour, shape and pattern are important to the way I work, which is mainly from imagination. The majority of my paintings are semi abstract. Acrylic inks share the same free flowing properties and the range of vibrant colours is excellent. They blend together well and can be let down with water for a muted effect or used straight from the bottle to produce glowing hot colours.
I usually work in both these mediums on Saunders Waterford, Arches or Whatmans 200lb Not paper, although I was recently given a sample of Schoellershammer No.12 Master Quality Torchon which I am adding to my "likes" list. The thicker quality acrylic paints I use in a variety of ways. The thin thick method, watered down somewhat, or trowelled on. An amazing variety of images can be created and the drying time is quick, which I find beneficial.
I use mix media for some paintings with whatever is available to create the end result I want and I experiment continuously.
The Galleries will be updated on a regular basis with new work when ready.
